Home Defense Concepts (HDC)

Unavoidable threats sometimes come to our homes, workplaces, places of worship and schools.

The Home Defense Concepts 1 (HDC1) class will introduce you to the defensive pistol concepts and considerations inside your home.

Beginning in the classroom, you will review:

Firearms safety
Storage of firearms for ease of access
Legal considerations of storage of firearms
Flashlight access and principles of use
Target recognition fundamentals
Defensive mindset
Use of cover, use of concealment
Introduction to defend/barricade in place
Backstop recognition
Engagement and sequencing
Post engagement concepts

Your training will continue in our Challenge House with practical applications of:

Effectively and efficiently accessing your firearms.
911 call protocols and best practices
Tactical use of flashlight
Target recognition, backstop and what’s beyond
Defending in place
Cover vs. concealment and their uses
Situational awareness at home
Multiple location-based scenarios including; bedroom, living room and open spaces.

Our Challenge House training scenarios utilize Simunitions™ against simulated threats.

Pre-Requisites: Successful completion of any one of these; OnPoint Handgun 1, CCH or Triple Nickel drill. Direct any questions regarding pre-requisites to the OnPoint Director of Training.
